This paste wax is a versatile finish. It provides a rich, satiny luster. The restorer has a great deal of control over the finished product with sheen ranging from a hand buffed matte, all the way to a mechanically polished gloss. Use paste wax to create your own signature finish.

This kit is also a must for routine cleaning and conditioning. Use it to keep your priceless collection in gorgeous condition.

A half pint of our paste wax, instructions, wet sandpaper, dry sandpaper, an abrasive pad, steel wool and lint-free cloths are included. Each kit includes enough product to handle several pieces of furniture, such as a set of eight dining chairs, a dining table, and a credenza.

Modern Conscience Wood Restoration Kits. These handy little kits contain everything you'll need to restore the wood finish on your classic pieces. These are the same products we use in-house. The kits contain a 1/2 pint of either raw tung oil, tung oil finish, or waxed base solution. We all three methods for such restoration in-house. These are all industry standards for wood finish conditioning and restoration. The tung oil finish will require fewer coats to quickly achieve a medium gloss. While a wax based solution gives the restorer more freedom to build a finish ranging from matte to gloss over more time with several coats. Raw tung oil requires the most patience with several days long dry time between coats and lots of buffing required.

Instructions, sandpaper, steel wool, and lint-free cloths are also included. Each kit includes enough product to handle an average restoration for four to six chairs. If a more aggressive restoration is required plan for the kit to handle about two chairs.

Modern Conscience Wood Restoration Kit (Tung Oil Finish)

Modern Conscience Fiberglass Gel Coat Restoration Kits. These handy little kits contain everything you'll need to restore the gel coat on your rough or dried out fiberglass shells. The kits contain a 1/2 pint of either oil and solvent based solution or waxed base solution. We use both methods for such restoration in-house. These are both industry standards for gel coat restoration. An oil and solvent based solution will require fewer coats to quickly achieve a medium gloss. While a wax based solution gives the restorer more freedom to build a finish ranging from matte to gloss over more time with several coats.

Instructions, wet sandpaper, an abrasive pad, and lint-free cloths are also included. Each kit includes enough product to handle an average restoration for a set of four sideshells, or two armshells. If a more aggressive restoration is required plan for the kit to handle about two sideshells or one armshell.

Please note that oil and solvent based gel coat restoration products will tend to cause a slight yellow tinge to lighter colors of fiberglass like Parchment and Greige. For lighter colors we recommend our wax-based gel coat restoration kit.

Modern Conscience Fiberglass Gel Coat Restoration Kit (Solvent / Oil Base)

Eames Fiberglass Cleaning Sponges. These sponges make cleaning fiberglass easy. They are pre-impregnated with a gentle cleaning solution and have a strong cleaning power, with a gentle sponge texture to prevent damage to the gel coat. Using them is as simple as wetting the sponge with water and cleaning up your seat. Once you've tried them you'll never use anything else. They work best on fiberglass which requires medium to heavy cleaning; fiberglass with severe damage to the gel coat will require restoration as opposed to cleaning. The sponges also work well on other plastic and resin furniture and components.

A large all purpose cleaning sponge comes in handy for gentle removal of grime from all kinds from vintage furniture. Each sponge is 7.5"x5.5"x2".

These soft terry cloth sponges are perfect for extra gentle applications like cleaning leather. Each sponge is 4"x5"x1". Reuseable.

Lint free cloths are great for all kinds of applications. Use them for applying finishes, oiling, or cleaning. Each cloth is 10"x15" and can be cut to make smaller cloths depending on use.

These general purpose abrasive pads can be used for polishing fiberglass between coats. They can also be used in more intense fiberglass cleaning applications. Be aware that their abrasive nature means that the original fiberglass finish will be scuffed and the gelcoat will need a few more finish coats after this pad is used for cleaning. For more gentle cleaning that doesn't abrade the gel coat please see our fiberglass cleaning sponges. This abrasive pad can also be used to clean metal, again with the warning that it is highly abrasive and will scuff shiny or polished metals such as chrome. Each pad is 6"x9".

Steel wool is a fantastic supply to keep on hand. Steel wool can be used to polish wood between coats of oil to achieve a lustrous finish. Steel wool can also be partnered with WD-40 to clean metal and remove pitting. Be aware that steel wool is an abrasive; too much action on a shiny finish like chrome will dull it. Each pad is approximately 3"x4".

80-grit sandpaper is a highly abrasive paper that is used to remove a lot of material. 80-grit should be followed with sequentially finer grits to remove the swirl marks left over. Each sheet is 9"x11" and can be cut to size into smaller pieces depending on use.

150-grit sandpaper is an intermediate grit used for smoothing between coarser and finer grits. Each sheet is 9"x11" and can be cut to size into smaller pieces depending on use.

400-grit sandpaper is a fine grit paper used to achieve the final smooth finish. 400 grit can also be used between coats of oil so long as gentle pressure is applied to make sure the previous coat is not entirely removed. Each sheet is 9"x11" and can be cut to size into smaller pieces depending on use.

320-grit wet sandpaper is used in wet sanding applications such as fiberglass. 320-grit should be used first to remove more material. Depending on desired sheen, 320-grit may be the only grit used in restoring fiberglass. Each sheet is 9"x11" and can be cut to size into smaller pieces depending on use.

600-grit wet sandpaper is an ultra-fine grit paper used to achieve a smooth finish in applications where wet sanding is desirable, such as with fiberglass. Each sheet is 9"x11" and can be cut to size into smaller pieces depending on use.

Modern Conscience Fiberglass Shockmount Adhesive has been specifically tested to perform best in the application of a Modern Conscience shockmount to a fiberglass seat. This product is used for the installation of rubber shockmounts on fiberglass seats. It is rubber toughened, black, and reaches full cure strength in about 48 hours.

Modern Conscience Fiberglass Shockmount Adhesive is specifically recommended in conjunction with Modern Conscience shockmounts, as it has been tested specifically for this purpose. Modern Conscience Adhesive Activator is also recommended to make the process go quickly and smoothly. One bottle will provide enough adhesive to replace 8-12 shockmounts.

Modern Conscience Wood Shockmount Adhesive has been specifically tested to perform best in the application of a Modern Conscience shockmount to wood surfaces like the plywood panels of the Eames molded plywood series and Eames Lounge. It is a clear gel that reaches full cure strength in about 48 hours.

Modern Conscience Wood Shockmount Adhesive is specifically recommended in conjunction with Modern Conscience shockmounts, as it has been tested specifically for this purpose. Modern Conscience Adhesive Activator is also recommended to make the process go quickly and smoothly. One bottle will provide enough adhesive to replace 8-12 standard round shockmounts, 4-6 Eames Lounge shockmounts, or 4-6 DCW/LCW lozenge style shockmounts.

Modern Conscience Adhesive Activator can be used with both the Fiberglass and Wood Shockmount Adhesives. This product is used to accelerate Modern Conscience Adhesive. It makes the process of shockmount repair go smoothly and quickly by eliminating the need for clamping or taping and holds the shockmount in an exact position during the 48 hour cure time of the adhesive. One bottle of activator will take care of 16-20 shockmounts depending on how many drips are used.

Modern Conscience Adhesive Remover will dissolve cured Modern Conscience Adhesive within a few minutes. It can be used to correct repair mistakes as well as to separate fingers that have gotten stuck together with Modern Conscience Adhesive.

Every tool kit needs a sturdy, reliable hammer with a pretty wood handle.

A Metal putty knife is the ideal tool to dislodge dried up old epoxy and remove crusty shockmounts on Eames fiberglass chairs, wood chairs, and the Eames Lounge. Use the putty knife to remove as much of that original adhesive as possible to reduce the amount of sanding you'll have to do.

A crescent wrench is a handy little wrench that will accommodate nuts and bolts of numerous sizes, metric and standard. This is an essential tool.

Screwdrivers in both flat and philips styles are of course a must have in the tool box.

Allen keyes are used to remove and install a number of fasteners in mid-century furniture. Beroia used them quite a lot. The Eames Aluminum Group Executive (sling) Series also has several allen key components. Most vintage American modern furniture will use standard keys. Products made in Europe or China will use metric keys.

Who says a tool bag can't be stylish? This cotton canvas bag is lightweight and durable. It's made from pretty 24 oz cotton canvas duck cloth.
