Vintage Eames PAC. The Eames Office presented their first cast aluminum base in 1955. One year later the same base was discontinued as a chair base and instead used for the 671 Ottoman. The chair is featured in the 1955 catalog Indicating: "Armchair for dining and desk work on the full pivoting base of cast aluminum and steel. Base finish of blak baked enamel. Wearing surface is polished aluminum. Base with long life pivoting mechanism."
Offered here is a rare original seat and base as evidenced by the base impressions in the shockmounts. The seat and base are in pristine condition with no repairs or damage and all original glides and shockmounts. The chair features the three dots mark, indicating that it is a third generation shell made in the Zenith factory prior to product transitioning to Herman Miller's factories. Please view the additional images, the chair is a beautiful example of Eames history.
